Huitlacoche

Does anyone know where to get this stuff in Nashville? I haven’t really looked, but why look around when I can ask the Internet?

I have been wanting to try it for a while, especially now that I ran across this recipe for squash-blossom/huitlacoche quesadillas:

Chihuahua cheese
Flour tortillas
1 clove garlic
1 tablespoon corn oil or other oil
Squash blossoms
1 can huitlachoche

I have to try that..

Sounds tasty. Want me to ask my Mexican buddies about it?

I don’t know for sure, but it’s sounds like a good excuse to visit the K&S World Market over on Charlotte. That place is so fun. Except I don’t go near the back where all the dead animals and almost-dead animals are kept. Ew.

I imagine you could get it somewhere on Nolensville road. I realize that’s not terribly specific, but maybe you could call around.

Ditto on K&S Market. I’ve never been to the Charlotte location, but I frequent the Nolensville one (just south of Harding).

I’m headed to K&S either tonight or tomorrow (getting ready to make bibimbap for Lintilla’s birthday. I’ll look for the stuff, if I can remember how to spell it.

Chihuahua cheese… do you use the milk of a Chihuahua to make such a cheese?

I’m a foodie, I’m a regular at K&S (only place to find fresh galangal in this town), and I’ve never seen anything like that.

I tried googling “corn mushroom” but didn’t find anywhere to buy them, even dehydrated.

What’s that place next to Phonoluxe? La Hacienda? They’re really a tortilleria, but they might have at least a lead for you.

Don’t mean to put you off the corn fungus …. but read this http://www.thesneeze.com/mt…

Then read the others, sometimes very funny play-by-plays of eating various “unconventional” foods.
