Just got back from seeing Newton play at the 5spot over in east Nashville.

He played a quick set, and it was pretty rockin (I’d say he stole the show, but I didn’t stick around for anyone else, so..) His songwriting and singing are both pretty strong, but I had to admit that the rocknroller in me was wishing for a band backing him up. Full bands make everything rockinger.

But I enjoyed the stuff, and we even got a Springsteen cover.

On a slightly related note, when did East Nashville turn into corner-pub central? I honestly hadn’t really been over there since the tornado hit, probably. It looks like a pretty fun area – hipster doofus central, but still pretty fun nonetheless.
