big kenny

In today’s “surreal headlines” category, we have “Big Kenny Joins ‘Nashville’s Greatest Thinkers and Doers”. I’m not sure if this says more about Big Kenny than it does about Nashville’s greatest thinkers and doers, but anyhow. Years ago, when this thing happened, I had no idea if it was Big Kenny or John Rich. Now it seems pretty clear that it was Big Kenny, which is disappointing because the more I’ve learned about John Rich in the years since, I’ve found myself really wishing it was him. Big Kenny at least seems to have some modicum of human decency, though, so I would like to now retract my usage of the term “toolbag”. His cohort John Rich has since redefined the criteria for this term in such an epic way that it no longer seems fair.

While that post that you link to of your past experience is rather disconcerting, ‘Big’ Kenny has been a very active force in attempting to bring relief and awareness to the situation in Darfur. I know he’s been over there quite a few times and spends a great deal of time and his own money attempting to help. But I don’t really know much more than that, and a brief google search doesn’t bring out any proof, so, there you go.

Yeah, it’s clear he’s since done a lot to try and help out, so I’m not faulting him for that.. that experience just struck me as annoying at best.. disingenuous at worst.
