Slime Molds are collections of fungi-like amoeboid organisms that usually hang out, eat bacteria, screw, whatever. But when food gets scarce, they band together to move on in various ways. The Dictyostelium bands together to form a moving slug that trucks on outta there. The word for this is “awesome”:

“Man, this place is dead anyway.”
