senseless

There was a woman that worked downstairs from our office at the Nightowl Cafe, serving coffee and food and stuff. She stuck out, not only because she was drop-dead gorgeous, but because she was also one of the nicest people I’ve ever encountered. She’d often insist that we take something for free with our purchase.. some candy, or chocolate that she liked and insisted we had to try. On Thursday or Friday, we had a near stand-off because she wanted to give me some Doritos for free. I honestly didn’t think that would be the last time I’d see her.

Yesterday, her body was found in South Nashville, shot and burned. I don’t have any authoritative information, except that she went missing after dropping off her son. I feel ill.

I always felt bad because for as nice as she was, I never had (took) the time to learn her name. Well, now I know. Freweini A. Gebremicael. Hell of a way to find out.

Chris, are you talking about the place in the arcade on 2nd Avenue next to Windows on the Cumberland?

Yeah, right next to it..

Aw shit! I knew her too. She was the nicest lady ever, that is very sad indeed.

I’ve known a few people who were murdered, but that one seems particularly heinous. I wish there were a magic solution. Perhaps you can do something in memoriam.
