06 May 2006Nick Gillespie went on O’Reilly’s show to debate Alexander about his retarded “non-binding, symbolic bill” that proposes to, uh, establish that we think the anthem should be sung in English. Or something. Gillespie did a pretty good job of making Lamar! look like a tool (not that it’s difficult), and then got some pretty funny e-mail from O’Reilly’s fanbase.

I’m certain the Spanish don’t want you representing them with your sarcasm and overbearing manner. You don’t help the cause at all and in fact make the hate them. Your ego and your superior attitude cement negative feelings.

Gotta say, I disagree Chris. I dont think, based on reading the transcript, that NG did a ‘pretty good job of making Lamar look like a tool’. He may *be* a tool, and his bill may be in poor taste or at least poor timing, but the arrogant tone to NG’s commentary hurt his argument. I think a viewer would have trouble distinguishing his argument from his attitude, and unable to take one without the other, would be hard pressed to support him. It may not be the Irag war, but it is a domestic issue, and those get time on the Senate floor too.
