munich

We saw Munich this evening. I found it to be pretty tedious. The over-arching point of the movie seems to be: the Israel/Palestine conflict is fucked up (subpoint: violence sucks). I guess maybe if you are a person whose moral framework is still unclear on those points, 3 hours of people being shot and blown up will really shake your worldview, but frankly I found it to be a little boring.

Here is some interesting commentary about the movie (click).

What is particularly interesting is the sympathetic reaction of the Berkeley crowd.

Intellectuals can be just as uncritical as groupies.

(In fact, intellectuals often are very similar to groupies.)

I am going to take the bold move of anticipating Chris’s reaction when I say: Get the hell off this blog and never come back, Johan, you fucking Nazi scumbag.

Chris may feel free to correct me here.

I endorse this statement.

I don’t think that there is anything “bold” about condemning Nazism.

“Self-righteousness is a loud din raised to drown the voice of guilt within us.”

Chris,

We are not enemies.

But I would like to point out that someone concurring with anti-Nazi hysteria today, would have been unlikely to oppose the Nazis if they were living in Nazi Germany.

It was sarcasm. Telling fucking Nazi scumbags to get the hell out and never come back isn’t especially courageous.

Nevertheless, it is true, valid, and correct to say: you fucking Nazi scumbag, which part of “get the hell off this blog and never come back” was unclear? Let me repeat, since you are clearly hard of thinking: GET the HELL off this BLOG and NEVER come BACK.

I would like to point out that your mother fucked a cabbage.

Note that I am not bothering to respond to any of your arguments, such as they may be. This is not because I can’t refute them thoroughly, it’s because you have surrendered all claims to be part of the human race; you are a mad beast. One does not refute mad beasts, one kills them.

“Mad beast”?

Someone who attacks and maligns someone they don’t know, might be a better example of that.

Nonsense.

You have no authority to bannish anyone, or to brandish the word “Nazi”.

(If you knew anything about the subjet, you would use that word with more caution)

Hey Chris, have a look at this fellow, Eric Hoffer.
