farrar, straus and giroux

There’s a line in the Destroyer song “Farrar, Straus and Girous (Sea of Tears)” (a friggin awesome song) that has a line I like a lot:

No man has ever hung from the rafters of a second home.
It’s true, I needed you more back when I was poor

I don’t really have any idea what it means in the context of the song’s lyrics, or even what the song means at all, but I like that line.
