What I’ve been listening to:

  • American Don – Don Caballero’s new most recent album. I like it a lot. It’s a little mellower, eliminating things that prevented me from really digging them in the past. It reminds me of Slint.
  • Still fixated on the new New Pornographers album.
  • I like that Gorillaz song “Feel Good, Inc.” more than I expected, since Gorillaz usually annoys the crap out of me. This in itself is an anomaly, since I like most of their constituent parts (Cibo Matto, Blur, Dan the Automator). I attribute most of my annoyance to Del, who I generally can’t stand, no matter how hard I try.
  • I heard two Bloc Party songs that are sorta okay.
  • Chuck Coleman’s “Brian Played Guitar” is a clever and catchy song.
  • I grabbed a Thievery Corporation album from emusic for the hell of it and for the David Byrne song on it. So far my response is: meh.
  • I’ve been giving Antony and the Johnsons a listen – he’s worked with Rufus Wainwright I guess. It’s not bad, but I am not sure I can get over his voice.

I think that’s it.

American Don came out in 2000.

Okay, their “most recent” album.. I think the last time I actually listened to them was probably on your recommendation in like 1998 or something.

Antony is the person who totally works it on “Old Whore’s Diet” You know that Chris! Also “For Today I am a Boy” is an amazing beautiful song. Worth the whole album (download from emusic. heehee)
