nashville blogger meetup

So, I thought I’d throw this out there, since I’m ever the budding socialite, it seems:

Any of the Nashville bloggers want to get together for lunch sometime? I know we have a few that actually work right downtown as I do, so we could probably pretty easily meet somewhere downtown or something. Or somewhere else.

Anyone?

No.

You stay out of this.

Will NewsChannel 2 be there? If not, I’m game.

Are you talking Quiznos or The Palm?

I’m game for a newschannel2-less meetup. I work on 2nd, so lunch would be easy any day (and NashvilleFiles Blake is downtown all the time for lunch. I also think people are ready for an “informal” afterwork meetup, but they don’t trust me to leave the news cameras at home. The Flying Saucer’s patio has been very available lately.

Yeah let’s do it after work. I only get a half hour lunch. OH AM I EVEN INVITED? I’M NOT A BLOGGER!

Can I still come?

Word. I’ve got e-mail addresses for everyone, I think, so I’ll wait over the weekend to see if anyone else wants in and I’ll send out an e-mail so we can coordinate.

I vote that we just go somewhere quick easy and casual for lunch.. I’ll leave the happy-hour shindig coordination to Roboto.. (I second the motion for flying saucer for this – as long as there’s no bullshit writer’s night)

Kevin, I’m definitely thinking more on the quizno’s side of the scale.. Screw the Palm, what I really wish is that there was a *las palmas* downtown, i.e. cheap but still awesome.. Los Reyes is okay but it’s not the same..

Brittney, you can come as long as you promise to give us dirt on WKRN.. like uhm.. ahh.. okay, I could care less about local news. But, you can come anyway!

Is this something I should mention at You Know Where or should I let you do all the promoting. Don’t want to step on any toes.

Nah, no toe-stepping.. feel free – my only concern would be it going from a casual lunch into a Big Thing with lots of people, which makes it hard to coordinate and figure out where that many people can go..

On the other hand, I don’t know that we’d even have that many Nashville bloggers that would show up..

But I say go ahead and mention it.. after all the no-shows and people that don’t care it will probably be a manageable bunch anyway.

Please know that any large scale meetup must be approved and sponsored by the experts of such things, Thursday Night Fever.

In all seriousness, if you guys want to do a larger thing (i.e. 20-30+ people), I’d be willing to organize it. Chris, it’s your idea, so you make the call: little lunch or big to do. Maybe we could talk about this at the small lunch.

I vote for small to start with. Big is complicated – I’ll leave that stuff to you..

I just wanted to grab a salad with a few people and shoot the shit.. I’m no event-planner

Naturally I want to meet everyone, but when it turns into a 30-person gathering, you don’t really talk to anyone for any extended period of time..

I think talking about that at a smaller lunch is a good idea.. Let’s do that first before we bring in the entire blogosphere.. I’ll send out an e-mail to this effect..

I’m still not invited.

This sounds like an awful lot of planning for a simple lunch date.

This shit is complicated, man!! you don’t know!!

Scott you still owe me a lunch for blowing off my graduation party. Does Ruth Chris serve lunch?

Ruth Chris! I do not have that kind of money! Hog Heaven is more satisfying anyway, I’m sure.
