Real ID

I am too busy (as always) to elaborate in too much detail, but I figured I owed more than my previous sarcastic quip. So I’ll just defer to Bruce Schneier, who has written extensively about it:

Blake has also discussed it here.

This legislation is a mistake, and it’s an unfunded mandate that was rammed through congress with little debate, to boot.

Owed more than a sarcastic quip? Uh, I gotta go rethink my blog and the meaning of life.

In an effort to try and help with this content reform I will pass along a question that my father sent me this morning in response to my even shorter sarcastic quip.

“And yeah, the realID is gonna be weird, but some first step toward a more positive ID is inevitable - don’t you think? We know that the first step will be stupid, but that is what we are - a nation of editors.”

I’ll put this national ID card with my other one, you know the one that has 9 digits. Feh.

Check it out…we agree on something else besides just cars. :)
