I work downtown. I used to live downtown. I am tired of seeing this view from my car as I plod down 3rd avenue at a leisurely 4 mph. I mean, I hate the carriages too, but at least I know what they’re there for – to take the tourists for a ride. (GET IT?!)

But can anyone tell me what the functional purpose of these mounted police are? Are they worried about a spontaneous riot breaking out at the Wildhorse or what? Are they a deterrent against anyone robbing a tattoo parlor and making a fast getaway on a mule?
